It’s back to the drawing board for Amilcar Alves

Amilcar Alves has been released from his UFC contract following his loss to Charlie Brenneman at “UFC: Fight For the Troops 2”. Welterweight Alves went 0-2 in the UFC with losses to Mike Pierce and Brenneman. News of his release comes via The Garv.com

Alves lost to Pierce by way of third round submission and was then decisioned by Brenneman last weekend. As is customary for all non-contenders or big PPV sellers, the 0-2 run led to the exit.

He entered the UFC with an 11-1 record and leaves at 11-3. He will most likely return to the regional/domestic leagues and try to rack up some wins before returning to the UFC.

Alves trains with Nova Uniao and counts Jose Aldo and Thales Leites among his team mates. BJ Penn is also a former member of the team.
