Kenny Robertson released after UFC 126 loss

By Brendhan Conlan

If any doubt remains relating to the difficulty in maintaining a spot on the UFC’s roster, especially in one of the company’s deeper divisions, fans should direct their attention to the case of Kenny Robertson.

The welterweight, who turns 27 on Valentine’s Day, was shown little love by the promotion after falling for the first time in his career this past weekend at UFC 126 and handed his walking papers as a result. Five Ounces of Pain was able to confirm the news with sources close to Robertson’s camp.

Robertson was knocked out by Mike Pierce in the second round of their preliminary pairing.

Prior to the defeat Robertson had opened his career up with ten straight wins including success in August 2010 over TUF 6 alumnus John Kolosci at Bellator 25. Also notable, the Midwesterner has finished nine of the opponents he’s beaten with seven submission victories under his belt.
