Quinton “Rampage” Jackson offered fight with Matt Hamill at UFC 130 on May 28th

MMABay can EXCLUSIVELY confirm that former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been offered a fight with Matt Hamill for UFC 130 on May 28th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A source close to the man from Memphis revealed the news to MMABay earlier today, adding the fighter wasn’t happy about being offered someone lower down the ranks at 205 pounds and may reject it altogether. A fight with bitter rival, Rashad Evans appears to be off the table for now.

Jackson rebounded from a unanimous decision loss to Evans back in May when he defeated another former champion in Lyoto Machida at UFC 121 in October. Jackson was due to return to the octagon to battle Thiago Silva but as we reported in the previous story a failed drugs test has ruled him out.

As for Hamill, the season three “Ultimate Fighter” cast member is sitting on a five-fight winning streak right now including wins over Tito Ortiz and Keith Jardine. He is also the only man to defeat current number one contender, Jon Jones, albeit via disqualification.

UPDATE: A verbal agreement between the fighters has been made. Looks like the fight is a go.
