UFC President Dana White Talks George Sotiropoulos Ttile Shot

By Trent Reinsmith

George Sotiropoulos will face off against Dennis Siver at UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia. Sotiropoulos, who hails from Geelong, Victoria, Australia lobbied to be on the Australian card after his victory over Joe Lauzon at UFC 123 in November of last year.

Sotiropoulos is on a seven fight winning streak in the UFC and yet he has remained outside the top ten lightweight rankings of many mixed martial arts pundits, despite wins over fighters such as Lauzon, George Roop, Joe Stevenson, and Kurt Pellegrino.

When asked where Sotiropoulos would fit in the title shot picture with a win over Siver, UFC president Dana White responded, “If he can pull this fight out, he’s in the line for a title shot, there’s no doubt about it.”

“This kid’s been on a tear, he’s so incredibly exciting to watch. A lot of people talk about stand-up wars, well, I love jiu-jitsu wars too and this guy’s been in a ton of them. He’s very fun to watch and incredibly talented and if he wins, he’s on his way.”
