Brian Bowles, UFC on Versus 3 is a chance to reintroduce himself

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Just one short year ago, Brian Bowles (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) held a title and was the world’s top ranked 135-pound fighter.

Twelve months later and after dealing with an array of injuries, he knows fans largely have forgotten about him – and possibly written him off altogether.

But as the soft-spoken Southerner readies for Thursday’s UFC on Versus 3 bout with Damacio Page (12-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC), he sees a chance to reintroduce himself to the industry.

Both former WEC fighters make their UFC debuts at Thursday’s show, which takes place at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. Bowles and Page compete on the night’s Versus-televised main card.

Bowles mission is succinct: He simply wants to prove he’s relevant.

“The division has gotten tougher,” he admitted. “It’s just kind of evolved while I was out. A lot of guys sort of surpassed me. Their careers kept going on. Mine was just on hold. It’s only going to get tougher with guys dropping down. It’s going to get tougher and tougher.”
